ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Layer group

A layer group is like a pile of books. Each book is separate, but they are all held together in a pile. With a layer group, each layer is separate but they are also held together in one group. It is easier to move the pile of books around on the shelf than it is to move each book separately. Similarly, with layer groups, it is easier to move all the layers together instead of moving each layer separately.
