ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Less than container load

Less than container load, also known as LCL, is when there is not enough stuff to fill a whole container, like a big box that can carry a lot of things. Instead, many different people who have smaller amounts of stuff can put their things in the same container to share the space.

It's like when you and your friends are all going on a picnic and each of you brings a different food item. You don't need a whole basket for each food item, so you all put your items in one big basket to share. This is just like how people can share a container when they have smaller amounts of things to ship, instead of each having their own big container.

This allows people to save money because they only have to pay for the space they use instead of renting a whole container for themselves. It's a clever way to make shipping more efficient and affordable for everyone.
