Limbers and caissons (military)

Okay, picture this: remember playing with your toy car and putting things in the trunk? Limbers and caissons are like big toy trunks that are used by grown-up soldiers.

A limber is like the front of a big toy car or truck. It has a place for the big horses to be attached and pull it along. The limber also has a big storage space for things like ammunition (which are the little toy bullets that soldiers use in their guns) and food for the soldiers.

Now, imagine the limber is parked somewhere and the soldiers need to move the ammunition and food to a different place. Here is where the caisson comes in. It's like a big toy trailer that the soldiers will attach to the back of the limber. Once it's hooked up, they'll load up all the ammunition and food into the caisson.

Just like with the limber, the caisson also has big wheels that the horses can pull along. The soldiers will lead the horses and pull the limber and caisson along with them as they move from place to place.

So, in summary, limbers and caissons are like big toy car trunks and trailers that soldiers use to transport things like ammunition and food by attaching them to horses and pulling them along.
