Liming (soil)

Liming is a way to make soil less acidic. When the pH of soil is lower than 6.5, it is considered to be acid. Liming helps increase the pH level in the soil, making it less acidic. The process is done by adding a neutralizing material called lime (also known as calcium carbonate). Adding the lime to the soil makes the acid disappear and the soil becomes more neutral. This helps plants have better access to nutrients to help them grow healthier.
