Linear segmented regression

Linear segmented regression is like drawing a line on a graph. Imagine drawing a line on a graph that connects all of the points that are on the graph. Linear segmented regression is a fancy way of saying when the line is broken into two or more straight lines instead of one. The two or more steps that the line takes are called "segments." You can think of it like the line is taking different paths so it can fit in better with the points on the graph.
