Linear trend estimation

Linear trend estimation is like trying to draw a straight line through some points on a graph. A graph is like a picture with points (like dot to dot) that show different kinds of information. If we want to know what is happening to the information over time, we can try and draw a line between all of those points. That line is called a linear trend, and it shows an estimation of what is happening, like the overall direction something is heading in.
