Linguistic purism in English

Okay, so you know how there are different ways people talk, like using certain words or grammar rules? Linguistic purism is when people believe that one way of talking is better or more correct than all the others, to the point where they want to keep the language pure and free from outside influences.

In English, there are people who believe that words borrowed from other languages or grammar rules that aren’t used in standard English should be avoided or removed. They think that English should only use words and rules that come from its own history and culture.

But it’s important to remember that language is constantly changing and adapting, and the English we speak today is a mix of many different influences. Trying to keep it pure and unchanged would actually be going against the natural evolution of language. So while it’s good to understand and respect the history of the language, it’s also okay to embrace new words and grammar rules that come from other cultures and languages.
