Lipid storage disease

Lipid storage disease means that there is too much fat in the body and it gets stored in the wrong places. The fat can build up in the organs like the liver, spleen or heart which can cause them to not work properly. This is like when you have too many toys in your room and you can't find your favorite one because it's buried under everything else.

There are different types of lipid storage diseases that can happen because of problems with certain parts of the body that help break down fats. This is like when mommy or daddy helps you break your favorite toy into pieces so you can fit it into a smaller box, but if they don't do it right, it may not work the way it should.

Some types of lipid storage diseases are inherited, meaning they are passed down from a mommy or daddy's genes. Others happen because of other medical conditions or medicine you may be taking.

People with lipid storage disease may look different or have different symptoms like being very tired, having problems with their vision or their skin may not look healthy. Doctors can do tests to see if someone has lipid storage disease and give them treatments to help them feel better. This is like when you don't feel good and your mommy or daddy takes you to the doctor to figure out what's wrong and help make you feel better.
