Lithuanian culture

Lithuanian culture is like a big puzzle with lots of pieces. Each piece represents something special that people in Lithuania have been doing for a very long time. Let’s try and put some of the pieces together.

Lithuanian language is one of the most important pieces of the puzzle. Lithuanians speak a language that is very different from other European languages like German, French or Spanish. The language has weird letters, like the letter š, which is pronounced like “sh”. But Lithuanians are proud of their language and try to speak it as much as they can. This festival takes place every four years and brings together thousands of people who sing and dance traditional Lithuanian songs. The music is usually very lively and makes everyone feel happy.

The Baltic amber is another special piece of the Lithuanian culture puzzle. It is a fossilized tree resin that can be found in the Baltic Sea. Lithuanians use amber to make jewelry, decorations, and even beer! Amber is so important to Lithuania that it has been declared their national gemstone.

Lithuanians are also very proud of their history. They have been independent, then lost their independence to other countries, and then regained it again. The country has a special holiday called Independence Day, which is celebrated on the 16th of February. Lithuanians also remember their past by honoring their famous historical figures, like Jonas Basanavičius, Vincas Kudirka, and Maironis.

The final piece of the Lithuanian culture puzzle is their love for nature. Lithuania has beautiful forests, lakes, and rivers. Lithuanians love to spend their free time outdoors, picking berries, mushrooms, or fishing. They also enjoy gardening and are very proud of their beautiful flowers.
