Litter (rescue basket)

Litter is a special type of basket or stretcher that is used to carry someone who is injured or sick. It looks like a bed made out of fabric that is attached to a frame. Think of it like a chair that you can lie down on.

When someone needs to be rescued, like if they’re stranded on a mountain or trapped in a car accident, the litter is used to safely transport them to help. It’s important to be careful when moving someone who is hurt, so the litter helps to keep them secure and protect them from further harm.

Rescue teams, like firefighters or paramedics, are trained to use the litter properly so that the person being rescued is comfortable and safe. They work together to lift the litter and carry it to where the person can get the medical care they need. It’s kind of like a really important ride in a special bed that helps them get better.
