Livestock branding

So imagine you have a lot of cows or horses that all look kinda similar. It's hard to tell them apart, right? Well, a long time ago, people figured out a way to make it easier to tell which cows or horses belonged to which person. They did this by putting a special mark on the cow or horse, like a symbol or a picture. This mark is called a brand.

Now, you might be wondering how they put the brand on the cow or horse. Well, they heat up a special metal rod until it's really hot, and then they press it onto the cow or horse's skin. The heat from the rod makes a scar that looks like the symbol or picture of the brand.

So if you see a cow or horse with a brand on it, you know that it belongs to someone specific. This helps farmers keep track of their livestock and make sure they're taking care of the right animals. And that's why people use livestock branding!
