ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Lobby (food)

When we go to a building like a hotel or a government office, there is usually a big room where people wait called a lobby. In some places, like fancy hotels or office buildings, there is also a place to get food and drinks in the lobby called a lobby restaurant or café.

Sometimes, people who work in the building will go there to take a break and get some food or drink. Other times, people who are waiting for an appointment or a meeting might go there to pass the time and have a snack.

The lobby restaurant or café usually has a counter where you can order your food and drinks. They might have things like sandwiches, muffins, coffee, or juice. You usually pay for your food and drinks right there and then you can go sit in the lobby and eat.

Some lobby restaurants or cafés might have tables and chairs set up like a regular restaurant, while others might just have a few chairs and tables scattered around the lobby area.

So, next time you are in a big building with a lobby, keep an eye out for the lobby restaurant or café and maybe you can grab a tasty treat while waiting for your appointment!
