ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Logical consequence

Logical consequences are a way of helping children learn how to make good choices by understanding the results of their choices. Logical consequences are different than punishments because you want the child to learn from their mistake rather than just be punished for it.

When a child does something wrong, like break a toy or not clean up their toys, you can give them a logical consequence. For example, if they break a toy, the logical consequence could be that they need to help clean it up and then help find a way to save money so they can buy a new one. This teaches them that their choices have consequences and that they can take responsibility for what they do.

If your child forgets to do their homework, a logical consequence might be that they have to stay up a little later and finish it. This teaches them that if they don't keep up with their responsibilities, they have to deal with the consequences.

Logical consequences help children understand the importance of making responsible choices and teach them that they have to take responsibility for their choices.
