Lorgnette

Hey there little buddy, have you ever seen grandma using that fancy looking object to hold on to her glasses? It's called a lorgnette!

A lorgnette is a small tool used to hold onto glasses or spectacles so that they can be held up to the eyes without having to put them on the nose. It's like a pair of binoculars but just for one eye.

It's made up of two small lenses with a handle in the middle. The handle is usually decorated and sometimes even looks like a fancy piece of jewelry.

People have been using lorgnettes for a very long time, especially in earlier times when eyeglasses were not as common. They were often used by the wealthy and fashionable people as a part of their accessories.

So, next time you see someone using a lorgnette, you can impress them with your knowledge about what it is!
