Pince-nez

Okay kiddo, have you ever seen someone wearing glasses that don't have arms that go behind their ears? That's called a pince-nez!

Basically, pince-nez are glasses that you pinch onto the bridge of your nose to hold them up, instead of using arms that go over your ears. They've been around for a long time, even before some of our great-grandparents were born!

Pince-nez glasses can come in all kinds of shapes and sizes, but they all have one thing in common - they don't have arms that go behind your ears. Some pince-nez glasses have a little spring in them, to help them stay in place better, like a little hug for your nose!

People used to wear pince-nez a lot in the olden days, especially fancy folks. But now, most people wear glasses with arms that go over their ears instead. But some people still like to wear pince-nez glasses because they think they look cool, or because they think it's more comfortable than having arms behind their ears.

So there you have it, kiddo - pince-nez are glasses you pinch onto the bridge of your nose, without any arms going behind your ears!
