MIT General Circulation Model

The MIT General Circulation Model is a computer program that helps scientists understand how the Earth's climate works. Think of it like a really big puzzle with lots of pieces that scientists need to put together.

The Earth's climate is like a big machine with lots of different parts that all work together. The GCM helps scientists see how the different parts of the Earth's climate interact with one another. To do this, they use lots of data like temperature, air pressure, and wind speed to create a virtual Earth inside the computer.

The program is like a super-smart weather forecast that can predict what the weather will be like in the future. But instead of just predicting what the weather will be like tomorrow, it can predict what the climate will be like in the future, like in 50 or 100 years from now.

Scientists use the GCM to learn about the Earth's climate in the past, present, and future. This helps them understand how the climate is changing and what might happen if we don't take care of the Earth. It's like a science superpower that helps us learn more about our planet!
