ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Macaronic language

Macaronic language is like putting together two different languages to create new words or sentences. This is like when you mix orange and blue paint to create a new color- green!

Some people might mix Latin with English or French with English. For example, instead of saying "good morning," someone might say "bonjourno."

This kind of speaking can be used for fun, like in jokes or poems, or to show off a person's knowledge of different languages. However, it can also be used to create misunderstandings if not everyone understands both languages being used.
