ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Faux Cyrillic

Faux Cyrillic is when someone makes English words look like they are written in Cyrillic letters, which are the letters used in the Russian alphabet.

You know the English alphabet, right? It goes from A to Z. Well, Cyrillic is just a different alphabet, like a different way to write letters.

So, for example, if I write the English word "Boo" in faux Cyrillic, it might look like this: воо.

See? It looks like Russian letters, but it's really just the English word "Boo" with different letters.

People do this mostly for fun or as a design choice, to make things look cool or different. But it's important to remember that it's just a fake way of writing and doesn't actually mean anything in Russian or any other language that uses the Cyrillic alphabet.
