So, before we begin, take a look at this magnet! It's super huge and makes things come to it just like how your favorite toys stick to your fridge.

MRI machine uses the power of a big magnet and radio waves to take pictures of what's going on inside our bodies. How does it work?

Our body is made up of lots of little things called atoms. They're so tiny that we can’t see them, but they’re always moving around. We can use MRI to organize these atoms so that they are facing the same way and spin in harmony like synchronized swimmers. When we do this, the MRI machine can send radio waves through our bodies that the atoms will absorb and then release.

By doing this, MRI machines create detailed pictures of the inside of our body using these released radio signals. Like a camera, the machine captures different angles and sections of our body and combines them to form the complete picture. The pictures that the MRI machine produces are like looking through a window into our body!

MRI machines are super helpful for doctors because they can give them a better look at what is happening inside our bodies. If someone has an injury or is sick, the doctors can use an MRI to see what is going on without needing to do it using surgery.
