Major League Baseball

Major League Baseball (MLB) is a professional sport in the United States. It is like a big game of baseball played by teams made of grown-ups who work really hard to be really good at the sport.

In a game of baseball, each team takes turns batting (meaning they try to hit the ball) and pitching (meaning they throw the ball). There are nine players from each team on the field at one time. The goal is to score more runs (points) than your opponent. A run is scored when a team member runs around four bases on the field, which are marked by white posts.

MLB has two divisions of teams, the American League and the National League. Each division has 15 teams. During the season, teams play games against teams in their division as well as teams from the other division. At the end of the season, the teams with the best records in each division play each other in the World Series, which is like the biggest and most important game of the year.

MLB teams have lots of fans who come to the games to watch their team and cheer them on!
