Mamluk

Mamluks were soldiers in the Middle Ages who were trained to fight and served in the army of rulers such as kings and emperors. They were hired from outside the country and were given special training to become skilled fighters. They were highly respected and served as loyal protectors of the rulers. Some mamluks also rose to become leaders in government and even in the military.
