Mantlet

Okay, so imagine you're playing a game where you have to hide behind a shield to protect yourself from getting hit. That shield is called a mantlet! It's a big strong shield that warriors use to protect themselves in battle.

Now, this mantlet is usually made from wood or metal and can be shaped like a rectangle or a sloped roof. It's really heavy, so it takes a big strong person to hold it up and move it around.

Back in the olden days, warriors would use a mantlet to protect themselves from things like arrows or rocks being thrown at them. The mantlet would also have little holes in it, called "embrasures," where the warriors could poke their weapons through to attack their enemies while staying protected behind the shield.

So, to sum it up, a mantlet is a big, heavy shield that warriors use to protect themselves in battle by hiding behind it and poking their weapons through little holes in it to attack their enemies.
