Marination

When we cook food, sometimes we want it to taste extra special, like when we have chicken or steak. Marinating is a special way of preparing the meat to make it taste really good.

Do you know what a bath is? It's when we get into a tub of water to clean ourselves. Marinating meat is like giving it a special bath, but instead of water, we use a mixture of different ingredients.

The ingredients are things like oil, vinegar, lemon juice, salt, sugar, and spices. We mix them together in a big bowl and then put the meat inside. The meat can be chicken, beef, fish, or even vegetables.

Once the meat is in the special bath, we let it soak for a little while, usually a few hours or overnight. This is called marinating. While the meat is in the marinade, it soaks up all the yummy flavors from the ingredients.

When the marinating is done, we can cook the meat however we like, such as grilling, baking or pan-frying. The extra flavors from the marinade make the meat really delicious and special.

So, marinating means giving the meat a special bath in a mixture of ingredients to make it taste really good!
