ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Maritime power

Maritime power is like when you go to the beach and play in the water. Countries have big fancy boats and ships that they use to play in the water too, but they also use them for important things like trading with other countries, protecting their waters from bad guys, and even fighting wars if they have to.

Just like how you might have a water gun or squirt gun to play with, countries have really big guns and missiles on their ships to protect themselves if they need to. They also have cool things like airplanes that can take off and land on their ships, and submarines that can go underwater and stay hidden.

Being a strong maritime power means that your country has the ability to use the ocean and seas to help your country be safe and successful. It's like being really good at swimming in the ocean and using that skill to help you in life.
