Maroons

Maroons are people who escaped slavery and created free communities by running away from their owners. They built their own settlements, far away from their masters, and made their own laws and customs. Maroons also fought for freedom and fought with their owners for other slaves to be released from captivity. Maroons were brave, strong and smart and are an important part of history.
