Marriage of state

Marriage of State is when a king or queen gets married to someone not because they love each other but because they want to make a deal or agreement with another country. It's kind of like when you swap your toy with your friend's toy because you both want to play with each other's toys, but you're not really friends with the other person.

When two countries want to agree on something, they might decide to have their rulers get married to each other. This is because when they get married, it shows that the two countries are now working together and have become allies. It's kind of like when you and your friend become best friends and you do things together all the time.

Back in the olden days, Kings and Queens used to do Marriage of State all the time. It was usually arranged by their parents or advisors. They would choose someone from a different country to marry their prince or princess. This would create peace between the two countries because they now had the interest of the other country at heart.
