ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Mary, the mother of Jesus

Mary was a very special lady who was chosen by God to be the mother of Jesus. She lived a long time ago in a place called Nazareth. One day, an angel visited her and told her that she was going to have a baby, but not just any baby, it was going to be God's son. Mary was very surprised and a little scared, but she trusted God and said yes to this special job.

Mary's baby, Jesus, was born in a stable and she took care of him just like any other mother would. She loved him and taught him how to be a good person. When Jesus grew up, he became a great teacher and told everyone about God's love.

Mary was always there to support Jesus. She even followed him to the cross when he was crucified. It must have been very hard for her to watch her son go through so much pain, but she loved him so much that she stayed by his side until the end.

Even though Mary was just a regular person, she was chosen to play a very important role in God's plan. She was a kind and humble woman who loved God and her son very much. Her story reminds us that anyone can do great things with God's help, no matter how big or small.
