ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Mass behavior

Mass behavior is using the word "mass" to describe groups of people who act or do something together. It's like when you are playing with a group of friends and you all decide to play the same game together.

People often behave differently when they are in a group compared to when they are by themselves. This is because when we are part of a group, we feel like we belong and are part of something bigger than ourselves. This feeling can make us do things that we might not do on our own.

For example, if you are at a soccer game and everyone starts cheering loudly for their team, you might feel like joining in even if you don't really care about the game. This is because everyone around you is doing it, and you want to feel like you belong with them.

Mass behavior can also be dangerous if the group starts doing something harmful or illegal. This is called mob behavior, and it can lead to people getting hurt or causing damage to things around them.

It's important to remember that just because everyone else is doing something doesn't mean it's right or safe to join in. We should always think about our actions and how they might affect ourselves and others, even when we are part of a group.
