ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Mass surveillance

Mass surveillance is when the government or other powerful groups watch your activities, either in real life or on the Internet. They do this to try and find out what people are up to and what they might be planning. This can involve people observing you in real life, and/or looking at your emails, texts, and other activities online. Even though this monitoring is done in order to keep people safe, it can also infringe on people’s privacy.
