ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Mawsim

Mawsim is a fancy word that means season or festival in Arabic. Just like how we have different seasons like winter, spring, summer and fall, people in other countries, like in some parts of the Middle East, also have different seasons that they celebrate.

For example, during the month of Ramadan, Muslims fast from sunrise to sunset for a whole month to show their devotion to their faith. This is like a festival or a special time of the year for them.

Another example is the Hajj season, which is when Muslims from all over the world go to Saudi Arabia to visit a special place called the Kaaba. It's like a big party where everyone goes to visit this holy place and celebrate their faith together.

So mawsim is a word that is used to describe these special times of the year when people come together to celebrate and be with their families and friends while sharing their culture and traditions.
