Media blackout

Okay kiddo, have you ever played hide and seek? Well, a media blackout is like a grown-up version of hide and seek, but instead of playing with people, it's with information.

Sometimes something happens in the world that a lot of people want to know about. But sometimes, for different reasons, certain people or groups don't want that information to be spread around. So they might try to keep it a secret, like hiding during a game of hide and seek.

A media blackout is when these people or groups try to keep the information from getting out by not allowing anyone to talk about it in the news. It’s like pretending the information doesn't exist.

They don't want anyone to know what's going on so they might try to stop reporters or journalists from writing about it or talking about it on TV or the internet. That way, no one will know what happened or what's going on.

Sometimes it can be frustrating because we all want to know what's happening in the world, but some people don't want anyone to know about it.
