Medical entomology

Medical entomology is a fancy way of saying that some bugs can make you really sick. You know how sometimes you get bitten by a mosquito and it itches? Well, some mosquitoes and other bugs can carry germs that can give you diseases like malaria and Zika.

But it's not just mosquitoes - ticks, flies, and even some types of fleas can carry germs too! Medical entomologists study these bugs to try and figure out how they make people sick, and how we can stop them from doing it.

They also study things like how diseases spread from bug to person, and how we can protect ourselves from getting bitten by these bugs. So next time you see a mosquito, you'll know that it's not just an annoying bug - it's a little creature that needs to be handled with care so it doesn't make you or anyone else sick.
