ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Medical research

Medical research is when doctors and scientists study different things about people's health to learn more about how our bodies work, how to keep them healthy, and how to treat diseases when we get sick.

Just like you might do experiments in science class at school, doctors and scientists also do experiments to learn more about our bodies. They might do things like give people medicine to see if it makes them feel better, or look at blood and tissue samples under a microscope to see how things are working inside our bodies.

What's really cool about medical research is that everyone can benefit from it! When doctors and scientists learn new things, they can develop new treatments and medicines that can help people who are sick. So, even if you're not sick right now, medical research is important to help make sure that we have better treatments for any illnesses that might come up in the future.
