Megaprojects and Risk

A megaproject is a very large, complicated project that takes a lot of people and a long time to complete. Think of something like building a giant bridge! It costs a lot of money and is often a huge undertaking.

Risk means the chance that something bad or unexpected might happen. With megaprojects, there are lots of different risks. For example, the weather could be bad and delay the construction, or the budget might run out before the project is finished. There could also be unexpected problems that occur along the way that are hard to predict. So, when we talk about megaprojects, we're also talking about the risk associated with them – the chance that something could go wrong. That's why it's important to think carefully about the risks before taking on a megaproject.
