Mekitsa

"Hey kiddo, have you ever had mekitsa before? It's a yummy Bulgarian bread that's kind of like a doughnut or a pancake. Mekitsa starts with some flour and water mixed together, just like making pancake batter. Then we add in some yeast to make it fluffy and rise up like a cloud.

But instead of pouring the batter onto a griddle like pancakes, we fry it up in a pan with some oil. That's what gives mekitsa its crispy outside and soft, doughy inside.

You can have mekitsa all by itself or you can eat it with some toppings. Some people like to sprinkle some powdered sugar on top or dip it in honey for a sweet treat. Others might put some savory toppings, like cheese, jam or even some meat on it.

Mekitsa is a special food to Bulgarian people, and they often make it during special occasions like festivals and family gatherings. It's an easy and tasty snack, so maybe we can make some Mekitsa together one day!"
