Meritocracy is a system where people are judged based on how hard they work, instead of things like their family background or money. In a meritocracy, when someone wants something, they have to earn it by doing their very best. For example, if a kid is in school and wants to get good grades, they can work hard, study and do their homework to get their grades up. This way, people get rewarded for having the skills and hard work to do well.
