Okay kiddo, so you know how your body is made up of different parts, right? And those parts are made up of even smaller parts called cells.
Now, some of these cells have different jobs. Some are called epithelial cells and they line the surfaces of our body like our skin or organs. Others are called mesenchymal cells and they help with things like movement and giving shape to our bodies.
But sometimes, the mesenchymal cells turn into epithelial cells. That's called a mesenchymal-epithelial transition or MET for short.
It's kind of like a caterpillar turning into a butterfly. When a caterpillar is done growing, it builds a cocoon around itself and then transforms into a butterfly.
Similarly, when the mesenchymal cells turn into epithelial cells it can help with things like healing, tissue repair, and even some types of cancer treatment.
So, MET is like a really cool transformation that happens inside our bodies and helps us stay healthy and strong.
