Messenger RNA

Okay kiddo, let's talk about messenger RNA, also known as mRNA.

Inside our bodies, we have tiny cells that work hard to keep us healthy. These cells are like little factories, making important things like proteins to keep our bodies working properly.

But first, they need instructions on what proteins to make. That's where mRNA comes in. Think of mRNA as a messenger that carries the instructions from the DNA, the genetic information inside our cells, to the ribosomes in the cell.

The ribosomes act like little machines, using the instructions from the mRNA to make proteins. So without mRNA, our cells wouldn't be able to know what proteins to make!

Now, the really cool thing about mRNA is that it's only around for a short time. Once it delivers its message to the ribosomes, it gets broken down and recycled. This helps make sure that our cells don't make too much of one protein and also prevents mistakes from being copied again and again.

So, mRNA might be small but it plays a really important role in keeping our bodies healthy by delivering messages and instructions to help our cells make the proteins that we need to survive!
