Metalanguage

Metalanguage is like a special language you use to talk about language. It helps us explain and understand how language works. For example, when we talk about a word like “cat” we can talk about it using metalanguage. We can say things like, “The word ‘cat’ is a noun” or “The word ‘cat’ is a word that describes an animal.” Metalanguage is like a special set of words and phrases that help us talk more clearly and specifically about language.
