So imagine you're playing outside and you see something shiny fall from the sky and land on the ground. That shiny thing is called a meteorite!
Now, where did it come from? Well, outer space! Sometimes, rocks and other stuff in space called "meteoroids" are flying around and if they happen to come close to Earth, they can get pulled in by Earth's gravity and fall to the ground.
When the meteoroid falls to the ground, it's called a meteorite. Depending on how big and fast it was, the impact of it hitting the ground can be pretty powerful and might make a loud noise or even make the ground shake.
Scientists get really excited when a meteorite falls to the ground because they can study it and learn more about the history of our Solar System. They can find out what elements it's made of, how old it is, and even what kind of area in space it came from.
So if you ever see a shiny rock fall from the sky, you can tell your friends that it's a meteorite and that it's from outer space!
