ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Metrication opposition

Okay, so you know how sometimes we use a ruler to measure things like how long a piece of paper is or how tall we are? That's called measuring in inches.

But in other parts of the world, they use something called the metric system to measure things, like how long a pencil is or how heavy a book is.

Now, some people don't like the idea of using the metric system because they think it's too complicated or they're just used to measuring things in inches.

This is called metrication opposition - when people don't want to switch to using the metric system for measuring things. But sometimes it's important to use the same measuring system as other countries because it can make things easier when traveling or doing business with people from different parts of the world.
