ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Michael Faraday

Michael Faraday was a very clever science man who lived a very long time ago. He was born in England in 1791 and he loved to do lots of experiments. One of his most famous experiments was to make electricity using magnets. He discovered that when you move a magnet near a wire, it can make electricity flow through the wire. This is called electromagnetic induction.

Michael Faraday also discovered lots of other things about electricity and magnetism. For example, he found out that an electric current can produce a magnetic field around the wire. He also discovered that by changing the strength and direction of the magnetic field, he could make the electricity flow in different ways.

Another really cool thing Michael Faraday discovered was about the chemical elements. He found out that when you pass an electric current through a solution containing some of the elements, they can break down into smaller parts and form new compounds. This is called electrolysis and it helped scientists understand how different elements can come together to form new substances.

Michael Faraday was a great scientist who did lots of important work in the field of electricity and magnetism. He even invented an early version of the electric motor, which is still used today to power lots of things like cars and machines. He was a very curious and clever person who loved to ask questions and find out how things worked.
