ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Misinformation effect

The misinformation effect is something that happens when people remember something that isn't true. It can happen when someone is told something that isn't true, or when people think back on something that happened but remember it in a way that isn't accurate. For example, if two friends had a disagreement and one person remembers it happening in one way, but the other friend remembers it happening in a different way. This is an example of the misinformation effect.
