ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Missing middle housing

Missing middle housing is a way of building homes that fits in between single-family homes and large apartment buildings (called high-rises). These homes can be apartments, townhouses, duplexes or row houses that look like a house but have more than one family living in them. They typically have two to four living units in them. The idea is to give families a safe and affordable place to live that is closer to the city center and more connected to the community. So it's a way to balance between the single-family houses and high-rises, that provide communities with more choices when it comes to housing.
