ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Mitigation of global warming

Global warming is when the Earth gets a little bit hotter over time because of human activities. To help stop global warming, people are trying to "mitigate" it, which means to reduce its effects. To do this, people are changing the way they use energy. This can mean using energy-efficient appliances that don't use as much energy, or using renewable energy sources like solar and wind power which don't put any more carbon dioxide into the air. People are also working on ways to take carbon dioxide out of the air, like planting more trees so they can absorb the carbon dioxide which helps reduce global warming.
