A tipping point in the climate system is a point where climate change gets so bad, it causes bigger and bigger problems. For example, if the temperature rises too much, parts of the ice in the Arctic Ocean will start to melt. As more and more ice melts, this causes more heat in the environment, making it even warmer so even more ice will melt. This causes a chain reaction or “tipping point” possibility where the environment can change very quickly and become much warmer.
