Model (art)

Okay kiddo, have you ever played with dolls or action figures before? You know how they look like people or creatures or superheroes? Well, artists use something called a "model" to make pictures or sculptures that look like real people or things too!

A model is a real person who sits or stands really still in a certain pose or outfit for a long time while the artist makes a picture or sculpture of them. The artist might ask the model to smile or look serious or hold their arm up in a certain way, and the model has to stay like that without moving until the artist is done. Sometimes, the model wears fancy clothes or has makeup put on them to be even more special for the picture.

When the artist is done using the model, they might have a beautiful painting or sculpture that looks just like the person they used as the model. And sometimes, if the model is very famous or important, the artwork with their picture can become famous too!
