Okay kiddo, let me tell you about the Mogollon culture. A long, long time ago, there were people who lived in what is now the southwestern part of the United States. They were called the Mogollon people after the mountain range where they lived.
The Mogollon people were very skilled at many things, like farming, hunting, and making pottery. They used something called an atlatl, which is kind of like a long stick that they used to throw spears farther than they could by just using their arms.
They lived in villages made up of houses made of wood and mud. Some of these houses were built into the sides of cliffs! They also built underground chambers called kivas where they held important ceremonies.
The Mogollon people were very interested in art, too. They made beautiful pottery with designs of animals or people, and they also made jewelry out of shells or stones. They even left behind rock art, which are pictures that they painted or carved into rocks.
The Mogollon culture lasted a very long time, from about 1000 BC to the 1400s AD. But eventually, the people moved on and the culture disappeared. But we can still learn about them from the things they left behind, like their pottery and rock art.
