ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Molinism

Molinism is a big word that talks about the way God knows what we will do in the future. It says that God knows what we will choose to do even before we do it, but that our choices are still free.

It's like when you and your friend want to pick a color for your painting. You might be thinking about choosing blue, but your friend wants to choose yellow. God knows what you both will decide, but he doesn't force you to choose either one. You still get to make your own choice.

Molinism also says that God knows what would happen in different situations, even if they don't actually happen. So if you were at the store and you had a choice between buying candy or buying a toy, God would know what you would choose. But if you went to a different store and had a different choice, God would know what you would choose then too.

Molinism helps us understand that we have free will to make choices, but that God already knows what we will choose. It also helps us know that we can trust God because he knows everything that will happen, even if we don't!
