Mondegreen

A mondegreen is when a phrase is misheard and replaced with a phrase that makes a new word or phrase. For example, if you heard someone singing "She sells seashells by the sea shore" but heard it as "She sells seashells down by the sea," then the phrase "down by the sea" would be a mondegreen.
